Welcome 2008-2009 Copernicus SSI Participants!
The SSI will be held over two weeks. Teachers will be provided with the following:
- technology equipment and workshops
- an intensive introduction to the 5 Es instructional strategy
- In-depth instruction in one of five science content areas: Life Science, Chemistry,
Earth Science, Physics and Astronomy
- English Language Learner and Special Populations instructional strategies, which
will focus on the importance of engagement and assessment
- information and assistance on the development of an action research project
- active hands-on learning opportunities in university laboratories
- presentations from content related companies/businesses;
- Essential time needed, and coveted by teachers, to work together and process the
new knowledge and skills they have gained
